Spatial Planning and Transportation Engineering
Urban realities are becoming increasingly dynamic, complex and fragmented while demands for their livability, sustainability, competitiveness, and attractiveness increase. This field of research connects spatial planning and transportation engineering producing new scientific knowledge needed in systemic understanding, problem-solving, and integrative planning and policy-making beyond sectoral boundaries.
Spatial planning and transportation engineering includes everything from general planning to traffic control and management. It combines traditional land use planning and transportation engineering with human-centred study of urban spaces and activities. The main research foci are experiential and sociocultural quality of life factors of living environments as well as the development of sustainable and intelligent transport systems.
